Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy Blended Learning Course

Section Title

We are excited to offer you the opportunity to complete Level 1 of the RO DBT Blended Learning Program live and online!

Aims and brief description: Level 1 of the Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy Blended Learning Course lays the foundations for becoming an RO DBT Practitioner or RO Skills Instructor. You will learn the underlying theories supporting RO DBT that are essential for understanding the treatment and for being able to explain the treatment to your clients. You will also learn how to assess clients for overcontrol, as well as the basic treatment structure. You can find the full list of learning objectives on the Learning Objectives page.

The overall aim of Level 1 is to assess whether you have clients who are overcontrolled and may benefit from RO DBT. After completing Level 1, clinicians can choose to continue Level 2 of the RO DBT Practitioner Pathway or the Skills Instructor Pathway. For more information about the different pathways, click here.

How it works:

The course consists of two days of live training, 4.5 hours teaching plus 30 minutes break time each day, totalling 9 hours of active teaching.

The trainer will teach the exact same materials as our on-demand Level 1 training, with the added benefit that you can ask questions during the live training sessions, as well as practice role-plays with fellow practitioners!

After each training day you are asked to complete an online quiz about the materials taught during that day. You must answer 80% of all questions correctly in order to pass the quiz.

To be eligible for a certificate of completion listing 9 CE credits, you must

  1. attend both training days (July 2 and 9, 2026) live, from start to finish;

  2. pass both quizzes by answering at least 80% of the questions correctly; and

  3. complete the online CE evaluation form after the second day of training.

You must meet all of these conditions. No partial credit will be awarded.
